Halloween 2013

One of Sophie's favorite movies is Toy Story, so I thought I would appeal to her interests for our Halloween costumes this year.  Sophie went as Jesse, Madeline went as Woody, and we went as Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. Sophie loved her costume and especially getting candy!!
Even before trick or treating began, Sophie was tuckered out.  Maybe she should realize that she needs those afternoon naps after all!

Pictures to satisfy the demands of the family...

Mom, you asked for pictures...here they are in no particular order.  They may not be very diverse because there are only a handful of times I have the camera ready.
Grandma (B-nana) with Sophie and baby Madeline.
Sophie really got attached to Grandma when she came to visit!

Our visit to Salt Lake.  Sophie loves swimming!

Fourth of July festivities in Salt Lake.  Adam is showing Sophie some "sparkler safety"!

Sophie at the Shark Reef (Mandalay Bay)...she loved all of the fish!

Here is a recent video of Madeline.  It showcases her happy personality!

Labor Day weekend in SLC

Adam's family had a reunion in SLC, so we made the treck up there.  We had a great time, but mostly Sophie loved playing...whether it was on the stairs, at the park or with her cousins...she loved every minute of it!  She didn't do too bad on the 6-hour drive either (we were very impressed)!

After a long hiatus...

It has been quite a long time since our last post. It seems overwhelmingly impossible to catch up on  all the mundane details of the past year, so I will just start with today.  Today we took Sophie for her first forward-facing car ride.  Last night, while she was sleeping, we installed her new car seat and this morning we woke extra early so we could go on a quick 5 minute car ride before Adam had to go to work.  We had the camera at the ready to capture her first exciting reactions to a whole new  forward-facing world.  Drum roll please...well, her excitement was less than what we were expecting.  I don't think she even noticed.  It is nice though to be able to see her cute face with just a quick turn of the head.
Maybe it was too early in the morning.

Wildly Adorable

A whole summer has come and gone with no new additions to the blog.  With all that time on my hands other activities were always taking priority....like sleep, a blow-out, spit-up, laundry, a cat nap, a doctor's appointment, a walk, cleaning the house, a little snooze, feeding the baby, putting the baby to bed, a short siesta...well, you get the picture having a baby is tiring.  Luckily babys like to sleep too.  We reached a milestone this weekend...she now goes down for a nap by just putting her in the crib (no rocking needed)!

Now that I am back to work I actually have to manage my time.  No longer do I have all day to get thing done.  Going back to work is great (except the early mornings)!  Sophie is being watched during the day by a mom in our ward that has 3 kids of her own, 2 of whom are in school.  Sohie is getting lots of love and attention, and having a good time making friends with her two year old daughter.  She is growing so fast now. She is eating baby food, saying dadada, and sitting up on her own.  With all the compliments she gets on how cute she is, one would think we are raising a child star.  I have a theory that the amount of comments increase depending on weather or not she has a bow on her head.  Therefore, she has a good number of cute head accessories (another summer activity).

Don't worry, we're weaning her off the bottle ;)  Just kidding!

Trip to San Diego

Adam had to go to San Diego for a business trip and I was not about to pass up that opportunity to see the beach so after much pouting and a little luck, Sophie and I were able to tag along with him. While Adam was in meetings, Sophie and I spent quality time together shopping! Then when Adam was free, the three of us hit some restaurants and the beach. We were so impressed by beautiful San Diego, we can't wait to visit again when Sophie is old enough to enjoy Sea World, the Zoo, or Knotts Berry Farm.

Baby Blessing

It has been a month now since the birth of Sophie. For her 1 month birthday we celebrated with a visit to the doctor. The doctor gave us the best present of all with a clean bill of health and a weight of 8 lbs 2 oz. She has really filled out nicely.

This weekend we had family in town for the baby blessing. We were able to get the backyard landscaping done. With the help of a friend we put in sprinkler, laid sod, planted bushes and a tree. About midweek I really was not sure it was all going to come together. But after many hours we had everything looking great by the time family was in town, including a new BBQ and patio furniture.

The weekend started with Corrin,Sophie and I going out to BBQ with my dad Friday night. he was in town early for business. It continued with grilling on Saturday night for 15 family members at the house. Then a lunch with everyone after church on Sunday. And a final dinner at Claim Jumper on Sunday night for those still in town.

The blessing on Sunday went really well. Even though there was a lot of sweating on my part. It went well. Right after the blessing when I sat down Sophie was smiling so big. It was a really special day.

Sophie was the real star of the weekend. Everyone loved her. She loved being held, sleeping in every ones arms. Corrin and I decided that we like family coming into visit us more than driving to visit. I guess it goes without saying, since it is a 6 hour drive. Thank you to all the family that came into town. Come back and visit soon, we really did love it.
